Inspired by these cherished memories, I now have the privilege of capturing those fleeting, magical moments for other families. Over the past five years, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering the art of posed and styled newborn and maternity photography. My images are crafted to reflect the richness and depth of those first few days of life. Like a landscape with its shadows, textures, and layers, my photography creates a sense of mood and timelessness, allowing each image to tell a story—a moment frozen in time to be cherished forever.
"How had I just created this beautiful baby?" I was immediately struck with awe.
As a mother to four adult children and a nana to three grandchildren, nothing compares to the profound moment of holding each of my newborns for the first time. The overwhelming sense of wonder and miracle in those moments still stirs deep emotions whenever I reflect on them or look at my own photographs.
For over 30 years, I've been part of the Te Awamutu farming community. Four years ago, we transformed part of our Pirongia Road property into a dedicated home studio, which has been a wonderful addition to my photography business since I began it here seven years ago. It’s incredibly gratifying to have many families return for each new addition, allowing me to capture their growing families over the years.
As an accredited New Zealand photographer, I was recently honored with four awards at the Newborn Photography Print Awards: three Bronze and a Silver Distinction. The Silver holds special meaning for me, representing my journey and the love I pour into my work. Newborns hold a unique place in my heart, and capturing those precious early days is more than a profession—it’s a privilege filled with warmth, care, and the hope that these images will be treasured for a lifetime.
